Honey
Warm golden sweetness with a waxy, slightly animalic and floral depth. Overdone it turns heavy, and some blends smell faintly sour.
Cautions
- Discolors soap or wax (usually tan to dark brown)
No special cautions at normal use. Some blends speed up cold-process soap; check your supplier's notes.
How it behaves
CandlesGreat
Pairs naturally with beeswax blends; on its own it reads soft, so layer with almond, lavender or tobacco for more presence.

Cold-process soapWorkable
Many honey oils contain vanillin and turn soap tan to brown, and some accelerate trace. Soap at cooler temperatures, stick-blend in short bursts and plan a warm-colored bar.
Melt-and-pour soapGood
Browns in melt-and-pour over weeks; a vanilla color stabilizer slows it, or choose a brown design.

A little lore
Real honey's smell changes with the flowers the bees visited, which is why clover, orange blossom and buckwheat honeys are so different.
