Jasmine
Jasminum grandiflorum / Jasminum sambac
Rich, heady and sweet with a fruity, honeyed heart and an indolic, slightly animalic undertone. Sambac is greener and more tea-like.
Cautions
- Discolors soap or wax (usually tan to dark brown)
Very concentrated; use at low levels. No special cautions at normal use beyond that.
How it behaves
CandlesWorkable
Far too costly to burn; jasmine candles are fragrance oil. A drop of absolute can add realism to a jasmine FO blend.
Wax meltsWorkable
Reed diffuserGood
Room & linen sprayGood
Beautiful in a small-batch linen spray at very low amounts.
Electric (water) diffuserWorkable
Cold-process soapWorkable
The dark absolute can tint soap slightly and the cost makes cold process a poor fit.

A little lore
Jasmine for perfumery is picked by hand in the early morning, when the flowers are most fragrant; India and Egypt are now the main producers.
