Fir Needle

Fir Needle

Abies sibirica (Siberian fir); also Abies balsamea (balsam fir)

Middle (heart) note Woody Green Essential oil

Crisp, green and sweet-resinous — the smell of a fresh-cut Christmas tree. Softer and less turpentine-sharp than pine; balsam fir is sweeter and more balsamic.

Made from
Steam-distilled from the needles and young twigs of fir trees.

Cautions
Old, oxidized conifer oil is more likely to irritate or sensitize skin, so buy small and store cool and dark. Don't diffuse around cats.

How it behaves

The top notes flash off in hot wax; anchor with cedarwood or vetiver, or blend with a fir fragrance oil for a stronger hot throw.
